TGIF: Take two but not take-out

I was hiding. Last Friday. When I was supposed to be here. Accounting for my week.

Does that tell you how I did?

Yeah. Sigh......

But, it is a new week. And here I am.

My goal to eliminate this week is eating out. I have a problem with this because I am not a planner. I tend to start dinner without enough time to finish it before I have to leave. Yes, I know. Not so smart. So then I go to work hungry. And so I buy whatever crap is around here.

That has to stop for two reasons. First, the cost adds up. I am not even kidding. Then I feel sick about wasting that money on crap. Secondly, my hips are a little more hippy than I like. And crappy food is attracted to hippies.

No eating out this week!

Now for the Increase. Kinda. I have a morning routine. In theory that is. There are 4 things that I need to do every morning. If I don't do these things, I feel bad. The four things are: exercise, scripture reading, shower, and the dishes. If any of those things don't get done, then I tend to berate myself. Not good.

For the past month, I haven't been able to get back into that schedule. I have let things interfere with those precious 2 hours. No more. I need those things to feel successful as a person, as a mother, and as a me. I am taking those two hours back. Starting now. Well, not now now. But tomorrow now.

In short, I'm taking two hours back but not take-out.

TGIF: Eliminate and increase

Chocolate and water. Two things my body needs to survive.

Yeah, well, not anymore.

I have decided to go about this weight loss/lifestyle change in two ways: eliminate and increase.Eliminate the bad. Increase the good, both physically and emotionally.

Physically, I have allowed my body to become addicted to lots of things. Food, chocolate, sugar, caffeine. I want to be free from their little voices, calling to me at all hours of the day. I believe that if I eliminate them, one at a time, then I will be able to free myself from their ever increasing calories that have taken up residency on my once small hips.

Having said that, their voice has to be replaced by another voice. I have chosen to let God's as the replacement voice. You see, in the past when I have tried to lose weight I do good for a while. Then I mess up. It's an addiction. Mistakes are bound to happen.

Then my mean voice enters my head and starts beating me down. "You are so weak. And fat. See, you can't do it. You can't even make it a week. You should just eat the whole bag of crap because you already failed." Do you hear that mean voice in your head too? Not this time. I am going to fill my mind with good scriptures that will only build me up and give me the strength the withstand temptation. And prayer. Lots of it.

I am also going to drop chocolate out of my diet this week. Just in time for all that dang Halloween candy. This is my biggest addiction. I can't go into a store and not buy it. Even if I have told myself I am not going to buy it this time. Then I hide it so Hubs won't know I bought it and so that I don't have to share.

It's a problem. It's called addiction.

I am also going to make sure that I get all my water in. How ever much that is. 5 gallons? Something like that.

How about you? What are you going to work on this week?

There Goes It Fridays (TGI Fridays): In the beginning...

It's official. My butt has become too big. It's true. Don't ask Hubs because if he answers honestly, he will be in trouble. Just believe me when I tell you it's growing.

Last year I set up a separate blog for my bottom problem. But I just can't keep up with two blogs. Okay so it's more like eight blogs: one for my ASL class, and two more for the soccer teams I am coaching and my journal and my kids journal. Yeah....I think I have too many blogs.Keeping up with one more would just cause me to want to eat something sweet...adding the problem.

So instead of dedicating a whole blog to finding my skinny, I am going to dedicate Fridays to it. I'm calling it "There Goes It Fridays." IT referring to my caboose.  (Get it...TGI Fridays?) Why? Why would I subject you to my own humiliation? Because I need some accountability. And support. And ideas. And my work just got new cameras. Looking at a HD of myself 30 hours a week is motivation.

Who doesn't have some physical goals for themselves? We all do. Even if you are already are skinny. Some of us need more sleep to improve our overall health. Maybe we need to pick it up in the exercise department. Or perhaps getting your all your veggies in is a struggle. Portion size? Other addictions? We all can improve, right?

So on Fridays, I am going come up with a goal or two to work on that week and also report on how I did on last weeks goal. I also hope to share some tips or articles or motivation I experienced during the week. I refuse to weigh myself more than once a month. It just feels counterproductive to me. I will be posting my measurements in a semi secret place. Not because I want you all to laugh and mock, but because if I write it down somewhere else, they will be lost.

How about it? Wanna improve your health? You can do it publicly or privately. Post something on your own blog or simply post it on your fridge. The important thing is to make the commitment.

Let's do this thing.
